Road verges typically provide a suitable habitat for rabbits as they are usually sloping and have free-draining soils which make it easier for the rabbits to dig. Similarly, embankments for other transport structures such as railways or watercourses are also suitable.
Rabbit warrens burrowed in to verges and embankments can cause significant damage and undermine railway lines and road carriageways. Damage is particularly evident in locations with engineered slopes or imported material, such as newly created cuttings for roads or railways.
When new roads or railways are being built, Greenfix Rabbit Mat R can be used to prevent future damage.
Greenfix Rabbit Mat R offers erosion control protection to vulnerable slopes with the addition of a 0.8mm thick galvanised steel reinforcement which provides a highly effective anti-vermin layer. The steel reinforcement mesh prevents rabbits and other burrowing animals from causing damage and has a design life of approximately 15 years.
Rabbit Mat R is available unseeded or pre-seeded with the choice of one of six standard seed mixes, including wildflower, as well as the opportunity to include site-specific seed mixes (subject to availability).
Rolls are available in 1.0m x 25m and are made to order, with this in mind the lead time for this product is approximately 8-12 working days.
